Our Vision
To preserve, protect, appreciate, promote and enjoy the culture of the Art Deco era.

What we do
Art Deco & Modernism Society Inc. (ADMS) is an incorporated not-for-profit cultural organisation, operating in Victoria and throughout Australia. It is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of aspects of the Art Deco era such as architecture, landscaping, furniture, industrial design, fashion, graphics, art, jewellery, entertainment and transport. A major objective is to raise the awareness in the community of the importance of Twentieth Century buildings.

What ADMS provides
ADMS publishes a quarterly journal called the SPIRIT OF PROGRESS, named after the classic train which also features as the logo of ADMS. The Society also undertakes regular information seminars, "Show & Tell" nights, exhibitions on aspects of the deco era and walks and bus tours. Information booklets are provided to all participants of tours and are also available for purchase. Functions are conducted at central locations and members (existing or new) are made to feel welcome. The Society exists to meet the needs of members and friendliness and "value for money" are key objectives at all events.

Renovating?
ADMS provides advice to members on the renovation and restoration of residences, including books, articles and suppliers of goods, products and services. It also assists property developers, architects and designers with advice on colours, finishes, materials and appearances of buildings.

What about Preservation?
A major role of ADMS is participation in the political process of building preservation and maintenance of a "deco watch" over buildings under threat of inappropriate redevelopment or destruction. ADMS maintains a large database of buildings in the Art Deco style and maintains links with other preservation groups, such as the National Trust. It regularly seeks to obtain listings of interwar buildings on the Register of the National Trust or with government heritage organisations at national, state or local levels. The Society is a member of the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS) and shares information with over 30 similar organisations around the world.

Funding?
Funding for ADMS is drawn from members subscriptions, a number of highly-valued sponsors, and from social functions.

Who are the Members?
Members of ADMS are drawn from diverse backgrounds but all have a love of the era. Whether you are renovating, collecting or just have a love of the era, why not join a network of people dedicated to celebrating Art Deco.
