The Centre, Ivanhoe
(formerly Heidelberg Town Hall)
253-277 Upper Heidelberg Rd, Ivanhoe, Victoria

(Peck & Kemter in association with A C Leith & Associates, 1937)

Summer 2006 - Preservation News
Just before Christmas, ADS was advised by the Heritage Council that the Heidelberg Town Hall had finally been added to the Victorian Heritage Register. Following representations by the Banyule Council, some changes were made to the Statement of Significance and the Permit Exemptions, but the original recommendation for the extent of the building covered by the listing remains untouched. This is one of VictoriaÕs interwar gems and Heritage Victoria is to be congratulated for nominating the building to the Register, which provides legislative protection.

Summer 2005 - Preservation News
Two major buildings are currently being considered for listing by Heritage Victoria. If successful, it indicates that they are of State significance and stringent controls are imposed under State legislation. They are the Ivanhoe Centre (originally known as the Heidelberg Town Hall) and the Rivoli Theatre, Camberwell.
