April 2006 - Preservation News
In 2005, the Rivoli Theatre was added to the Heritage Register for the State of Victoria (H1524). The citation notes that it is of architectural significance as an intact and distinctive example of the Streamlined Moderne style which was highly fashionable in the design of commercial buildings in Melbourne in the 1930’s. It is the most intact surviving example in Victoria of the work of specialist cinema architects, H. Vivian Taylor & Soilleux, and includes an impressive display of decorative brickwork externally and plasterwork internally. It is of historical and social significance due to its association with one of the most popular forms of mass entertainment of the 20th century.

Summer 2005 - Preservation News
Two major buildings are currently being considered for listing by Heritage Victoria. If successful, it indicates that they are of State significance and stringent controls are imposed under State legislation. They are the Ivanhoe Centre (originally known as the Heidelberg Town Hall) and the Rivoli Theatre, Camberwell.

Autumn 2000 - Preservation News
ADS is also thrilled with the imminent reopening of the Rivoli Theatre in Camberwell. ADS provided extensive advice to Village Theatres on colours, paint schemes, lighting, signage and carpets. Village has now decided that the original terrazzo flooring at the entrance will be restored. Many thanks to our Honorary Preservation Officer, Cliff Skinner, and to former Committee member, Glenys Thomson, for their roles in the refurbishment of the Rivoli.
