Winter
2002- Preservation News
We
reported in the last journal that one of Australia's more unusual Art
Deco buildings, the Wimmera Livestock Bazaar in Horsham, had been listed
by Heritage Victoria. The listing was opposed by the Horsham Council and
the building owners. At a recent hearing, the National Trust and the ADS
were successful in their submission that this unique building be added
to Victoria's Heritage Register.

2002- Preservation News
One
of Australia's more unusual Art Deco buildings is the Wimmera Livestock
Bazaar in Hamilton St, Horsham. Built in 1936, designer unknown, it is
a good example of the Moderne style with Egyptian influences. Thanks to
our friends at the National Trust, the building was proposed for listing
by Heritage Victoria and has now been registered.
Spring
2001- Preservation News
Our
friends at the National Trust alerted us to the threat to demolish this
unique Art Deco building in Hamilton St, Horsham. Constructed in 1936,
this building operated for many years as a livestock trading bazaar. It
has lately been used by the Horsham Arts Council. The building was recently
sold to the Urban Land Corporation for redevelopment but has now been
classified by the National Trust.
