Preservation
of our Deco Heritage
Many
buildings from the Art Deco era are now threatened by inappropriate redevelopment
of demolition. ADS is not "anti-development" and is in favour of recycling
buildings.
ADS
is active in the listing of Art Deco buildings with the National Trust,
Heritage Victoria and the Tasmanian Heritage Council, and with the establishment
or extension of local government Heritage Overlays. These listings provide
a measure of protection. However, ADS receives many calls for assistance
in defence of threatened buildings and often must present submissions
to various planning or approval authorities or tribunals.
Following
is a list of buildings for which ADS has provided preservation guidance
or been requested to commence preservation activity since 2000.
