We reported recently that one of Australia's more unusual Art Deco buildings, the Wimmera Livestock Bazaar in Horsham, had been listed by Heritage Victoria.The listing was opposed by the Horsham Council and the building owners. At a recent hearing, the National Trust and the ADS were successful in their submission that this unique building be added to Victoria's Heritage Register.

One of Australia's more unusual Art Deco buildings is the Wimmera Livestock Bazaar in Hamilton St, Horsham.Built in 1936, it is a good example of the Moderne style with Egyptian influences. Thanks to our friends at the National Trust, the building was proposed for listing by Heritage Victoria and has now been registered.

The National Trust alerted us to the threat to demolish this unique Art Deco building in Hamilton St, Horsham.Constructed in 1936, this building operated for many years as a livestock trading bazaar. It has lately been used by the Horsham Arts Council. The building was recently sold to the Urban Land Corporation for redevelopment but has now been classified by the National Trust.
