Following the recommendation of the Snelleman House for inclusion on the Victorian Heritage Register, the house has been formally added to the Register.AUTUMN 2011 - Preservation News
One of the reasons for the decision made last year by ADMS to change its name to include Modernism was to act as advocates for the preservation of significant post-WWII buildings.A major force in Melbourne's architectural circles in the 1950s (and ever since!) was Peter McIntyre. In 1953 he designed a house for the Snelleman family in the riverside suburb of East Ivanhoe.
When the house was recently put up for sale by the Snelleman family, there were concerns raised about its future. ADMS lodged a nomination (prepared by Simon Reeves of Built Heritage) of the house to the Victoria Heritage Register and it has been recommended for inclusion.
